AWESOME Target deal on Starbucks coffee! 12/4

Ok, so I just realized that there is an AWESOME deal right now on Starbucks coffees at Target if you like coffee as much as I do!  Here is what you can do to get some CHEAP Starbucks ground coffee (or VIA packets) AND gift cards!

*Buy three packages of ground coffee from Target in one transaction before 12/31 and submit your receipt at the Starbucks holiday offer site for a FREE $5 gift card for Starbucks!

*Also, in the same transaction, score a FREE $5 gift card from Target during this week (good until Dec. 10)

*Use the $3/2 Starbucks ground coffee coupon and the $1/1 Starbucks ground coffee coupon found in the 12/04 SmartSource coupon insert. (expire 1/14/12)

My favorite Black Friday deals! 11/23

Well, ready or not, Black Friday is almost here!  Whether or not you are a Black Friday shopper (I, personally, choose to forgo most of the craziness until Cyber Monday), some of the deals I have found posted online that will be happening on Black Friday are too good to resist!  Below is a list of some sites that I have found to be very helpful in rounding up these deals.  Happy shopping!  And, be sure to let me know if you scored a great deal this Black Friday!

1.  Hip2Save- This site has done a great job of rounding up deals at stores such as Macy’s, JCPenney, ToysRus, Old Navy, Best Buy, Kohl’s, etc.  It also gives tips on how to get the most out of your Black Friday shopping trip!

2.  TotallyTarget-  This site offers a list of all of the best Black Friday deals going on specifically at Target stores.  It does an excellent job of pairing coupons with the best-priced deals you will find on everything on your list in Target on Black Friday!

3.  TheKrazyCouponLady-  This site will show you where to go to get the best deals on holiday gift card promos during the season.  It details which stores give free gift cards or bonuses with purchase.  One of my favorites is from Victoria’s Secret- get a Free Secret Reward Card (worth $10, $50, $100, or $500) with $10 purchase through 11/30/11. Check out the site for more deals

4.  Mashable-  This article details the 9 best Walmart Black Friday deals, mostly electronics.

5.  WildforWags-  This site is dedicated to finding the best deals at Walgreens stores.  Click the link to be directed to a Gift-giving guide for the holidays for everyone on your list!  Lots of good deals and money-saving gift ideas are in the guide!

6.  The Thrifty Couple-  This site has a list of everything from coupon deals to recipe ideas to Christmas gift ideas, all on a budget!  I love this site and just enjoy perusing it for ideas and inspiration from time to time!

7.  All You-  The site to the popular magazine All You which has an article listing the best Black Friday deals in stores such as Staples, Walmart, Kohl’s, Michaels, Walgreens and more!

**Also…I wanted to mention that Trader Joe’s, one of my favorite stores, has some good bargains on frozen fruits and vegetables.  I found ORGANIC frozen strawberries (12 oz. package) at my Trader Joe’s yesterday and picked up a couple bags.  You will not find fresh organic strawberries for this cheap anywhere, so this is a GREAT buy to use for salads, smoothies, desserts- you name it! AND, Trader Joe’s had watermelon for $3.99- cheapest I’ve seen anywhere! **

Happy Face Sandwiches! 8/17

I wanted to share with you all a cute idea for a fun lunch for the kiddos!  When my kids want a sandwich for lunch, I “healthify” it by adding some fruit & veggie sticks and by using whole wheat tortillas and all natural deli meats and cheeses.  My son was diagnosed with a peanut allergy at two years old, so I had to become creative with the kinds of sandwiches I served him at lunch…thus, the “Happy Face Sandwich” was born!  Take a look at the pictures below to see an example!

Making these “sandwiches” is really not much more work than you would do to make your child’s lunch.  You can get even more creative than me by making your own combination!  I have used apple and avocado slices and banana slices (for the eyes) as well! 

I found a coupon for Hormel All Natural deli meats that you can find here  (it’s a Target coupon)!  These deli meats use NO nitrites/nitrates, NO preservatives, and NOTHING artificial!  Read here about the dangers of nitrites/nitrates in your deli meat. 

Also, send an email to wrldgourmet1@gmail.com to get some coupons sent to you for the Veggie Straws from Sensible Portions! 

And, don’t forget…if you go to the Driscoll’s website and sign up, they will send you a coupon for $.55 off their berries!  You can find some good deals on strawberries and blueberries at Target and Jewel right now!

I also love Target’s Archer Farms Simply Balanced Whole Wheat tortillas…my daughter eats them right up!

Good deals on Smart Balance butter, Chocolate Chips, and Kraft Naturals Feta cheese 8/8

  • So, just in case you were thinking about making either my Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe or the Pea, Broccoli and Feta Pasta Salad  (by Jamie Oliver) that I have posted, here are a couple of recent deals you could score on ingredients in those recipes…

  • Smart Balance  butter is on sale at SuperTarget for $2.20 a tub.  Also, there is a Target coupon  for $1.25 off 2 Smart Balance butters and a manufacturer coupon for $1 off 2 Smart Balance butters in the July 10 SmartSource  insert.  You could potentially be getting one of the tubs of butter for FREE with these coupons!  Stock up- this butter freezes very well, and you can use it for all of your baking and cooking!
  • Nestle Toll House chocolate chips are on sale at Meijer for $2.19, and there is a manufacturer coupon for $.50 off 2 here.  This makes them come out to be around $1.94 a piece, which is a great deal!  I LOVE the dark chocolate flavor!

For the Pea, Broccoli and Feta Pasta Salad:

  • Meijer  also has a good deal going in which you buy 2 Kraft Naturals Feta cheese crumbles and get one FREE!  They are around $3 a piece, but after the deal end up being only about $2 a piece!  Use these in this pasta and also to throw into my Very Vegetable Salad  recipe if you like!

I read an article yesterday that I would like to share with all of you Megacoolmamas!  As you know if you’ve read “My Philosophy”, mostly everything my family and I eat is as close as it can be to all natural.  Not only do I feel better physically when I eat “clean”, but, most importantly, I know I am doing something good for my family by choosing products that do not use artificial ingredients.  This article chronicles one mother’s conversion from artificial to natural products and the effects she realized those artificial ingredients were having on her child’s behavior.  Here is the link to the article.  Enjoy!

And, speaking of eliminating artificial ingredients, it’s easier than you think!  And, you might think it’s more expensive to do so, right?  Not necessarily!  That’s what my blog is about…helping you make that change and save you money at the same time!  I’m sure that if you follow my tips, you will save money on what your old grocery bill used to be!  I spend a LOT of time researching good, healthy buys for my own grocery list, and I share them with you!  I hope you can benefit from all of my hard work!  :)

Happy Tot find at Target

Have you seen the “new” trend in helping kids get their fruits and veggies lately?  I’m sure many of you Megacoolmamas already know about this, but I just wanted to share…Happy Tot  is a brand recommended by Dr. Sears  that produces these cute little pouches of fruit/veggie purees that are chock-full of everything good for your little one!  They are 100% organic (yay!) and can be re-sealed and re-used at a later time (their no-spill top is awesome)!  Here is a pic of what I got today at my local Target at $1.19 a piece…my kids LOVE them!  And I LOVE knowing they are getting their fruits and veggies!

Healthy Lunch Maker Tool

So, I found this neat online tool that helps you know whether the lunch you are packing for your kids is nutritionally appropriate for his/her age and nutritional needs!  I tried it and found that my son is probably getting too much protein in his lunch, so it was useful!  Here’s the link…let me know what you think!
