So, if you’re a Megacoolmama who likes to save money and feel like an environmentally responsible citizen, then you will love this idea! Go to this link to see if Green Halloween sponsors a Costume Swap in your area! October 8 is National Costume Swap Day, and there will be swaps happening all over the country! If you can’t find one in your area, why not start one yourself? It could be as simple as asking a family member or friend with kids to switch costumes with you or inviting all of your family and friends with kids to do one big swap! Let me know if you participated in one of these fun events and how it went in the comments section below!
And, about that candy…
Why not make Halloween a little bit healthier this year while you’re at it? I am not sure how it is humanly possible for any child to consume the amount of candy that is received in an average trick-or-treat run. Obviously, this is a fun event for the kids and they look forward to getting their little treats. However, handing out something like Annie’s Homegrown Organic Orchard Fruit Bites instead of sugary candies is still fun and tasty! You can find “healthy” treats at the store if you just look! (Look here for more treats from Annie’s Homegrown!)
Start earning points for being a responsible, recycling citizen at Recyclebank! You can use your points to get coupons for products from brands like Kashi & Aveeno (plus many more) or to purchase cool eco-friendly products! There are so many ways to earn points (by taking pledges, playing recycling trivia games and entering UPC codes from environmentally-conscious brands). So far, I have racked up enough points to trade in for a couple of $2 off any Kashi product coupons and $1 off Aveeno product coupons. Go here to sign up and check it out! Mega-green!
Mamasource has an awesome deal going on right now for a year’s subscription to their National Geographic Little Kids magazine (geared toward 3-6 year-olds) for $7! Go to the Megacoolmama Facebook page and go through the link I have posted there to get your deal! (Make sure to do this soon, as the deal expires on August 23! AND Enter coupon code NATGEOLK3 upon checkout to get your $7 deal!) My kids are going to LOVE this! Each magazine comes with full-color animal cards, too!

So, being the Megacoolmamas that we are, we love an opportunity to be “green” while saving some “green”, right? Well, I know I do! I discovered this deal today on Plum District (a site dedicated to providing moms awesome deals on really neat stuff we can use!). Reusies are re-usable sandwich and snack bags and come in super cute designs! For the price that you pay for these bags, you will be getting your money back times 20, considering how much you would normally spend on plastic baggies. And, to top it off, you will be helping reduce waste and to save the environment. Head over here to Plum District to sign up and get your voucher for $30 worth of Reusies for just $15. I just got mine and can’t wait to get them in the mail!

One Step Ahead is an awesome company that offers the best of baby and kids’ products on the market. I have purchased many things from them, including the “bumper pads” for my brick fireplace stoop and a personalized toy box and storage bin for my kids’ toys. Right now, they are running a promotion in which you could win $100 gift card from them! In order to participate, go to their website, subscribe to their emails (get exclusive offers and coupons), and then enter to win! While I was on their site, I spied this super cute zip toy bin that you can personalize for your kiddos…what a nice gift for the little ones in your family!
Also, Seventh Generation is running a sweepstakes right now in which you could win $10,000 to buy environmentally friendly products (available at Target and WalMart) for your home AND 1000 families in your town will win a FREE kit ($55 value) from Seventh Generation to help “green” their homes, too! Just go to their website for more details!
